All Dog Licences and Kennel Licenses are issued from the Township Office. We request that you complete the Dog License Application Form and return it with proof of spay/neuter with the appropriate fee according to By-Law 2-95, Section 3.03 as amended. If you have tenants on your property who have dogs, please make them aware of the fee schedule.

Fire Permit Applications are required for all burning within the Township. Fire bans may be imposed at any time due to the weather conditions.
Fire Permits are available, at no charge, at the Municipal Administrative Office or electronically by filling out the fillable form and emailing or faxing it back to the Township.
Fire Permits are not valid without a Municipal Official Signature and Permit Number. Once your permit has been approved, it will be returned to you using the same manner as it was submitted. Please note, Fire Permits are not transferable and are intended for use by the person and for the property location listed on the permit.
All burning within the Township shall be in compliance with By-Law 07-2009, being a by-law to regulate the setting of fires, prevent the spreading of fires and to establish a fire permit system.
**In the event any person proposes to start or set a fire which is larger than the maximum size provided in Section 4 such person shall contact the Fire Chief, or his/her designate, to request a site inspection. The Fire Chief or his/her designate may or may not authorize the fire to be ignited, subject to such conditions as the Fire Chief or his/her designate may impose, issued in writing.**

The Fee for a Tax Certificate is $40.00 Payable to the Township of East Garafraxa. Request must be made in writing and submitted along with the payment to the Township Office.
2026 Tree Seedling Program – Coming Soon!
The Township of East Garafraxa, in conjunction with the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), will be offering a tree seedling program for distribution in the Spring of 2026.

Council and Staff Conduct Complaint Policy
A delegation is an opportunity to appear before Council to present information. The purpose of the delegation process is to allow residents to make their views known to Council.
A person or group wishing to make a Delegation/Presentation to Council shall submit a Delegation Request Form to the Clerk or designate in-person, by mail, or by email to clerks@eastgarafraxa.ca.
All Building Permit Application (to construct or demolish) for the Township are processed online through the CityView Portal. Review of applications are conducted by the Township and the County of Dufferin Building Services Department.

Please note Township Municipal Approval is required for all development.
When a building permit is not required under the Building Code, it is the property owner's responsibility to ensure that Township Zoning requirements and other applicable policies/By-Laws are met, and that Conservation Authority approval/clearance is obtained, if necessary.

Hurricane Clip Rebate Program (County of Dufferin)
Hurricane Clip Rebate Program (County of Dufferin)
In partnership with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, Dufferin County is offering a rebate incentive to property owners or builders in Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, and Shelburne who install hurricane clips during construction on all new buildings, additions, or renovations.

Starting January 2, 2024 the Township of East Garafraxa will only accept inquires for land uses, including all zoning related questions and development proposals, via the Land Use Inquiry Form.

Zoning By-law Amendment, Temporary Use By-law and Holding Zone Removal
The Fee for a Zoning Compliance Report is $150.00. Please mail cheque payable to the Township of East Garafraxa administration office. Request must be made through the Land Use Inquiry Form.
An Entrance Permit is required under the following circumstances on the Township of East Garafraxa roads:

Fees: $100.00 Non-Refundable Fee and $600.00 Deposit
Entrances are subject to final inspection and approval. Please contact the Public Works department to request a final inspection once entrance is complete. Upon satisfactory inspection of the entrance, the $600.00 deposit shall be refunded.
If the entrance is found to be unsatisfactory, the deposit shall be held until corrected. In the event that the Township of East Garafraxa is required to repair the entrance, costs shall be deducted from the deposit and any remaining funds shall be returned. If the costs incurred by the Township exceed the deposit received, the balance shall be deemed to be due and payable to the Township.
**Please note that if you reside on a County of Dufferin Road within the Township of East Garafraxa you will have to apply for an Entrance Permit from County of Dufferin. For the County's application process please click here for further information.
Nuisance Beaver Program (County of Dufferin)
Dufferin County operates a Nuisance Beaver Program during the off season for beaver trapping.
This program runs from May 1st through October 24th annually and is carried out with the permission of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. It is designed to protect municipal drains, culverts, and roads from damage caused by nuisance beavers.

The fee for a Road Occupancy Permit is $750.00, please refer to By-Law 4-2011- Tariff of Fees for Municipal Cost Recovery for more information including deposit amounts.
The Township requires a completed application accompanied by a certificate of insurance naming the Township of East Garafraxa as an additional insured.
